Launch Official five DTT channels in HD on October 30

The five channels of digital terrestrial television broadcasting selected for high definition (HD TF1 France 2 HD, Arte HD, Canal + HD and M6 HD) will be officially launched on October 30th at 15H30 in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Communication Christine Albanel, the Secretary of State in charge of prospecting, evaluation of public policies and development of the Digital Economy Eric Besson and President of the Supreme Council Audiovisual Michel Boyon.

To date, 27 issuers will be in service to cover 40% of the metropolitan population, with sound quality and unmatched image. On May 31, 2009, new transmitters will allow more than 60% of the population access to programs broadcast in HD.

Originally, the programs received in HD would only represent a small portion of the broadcast for up to 100% of the programs of the time slot 16H00-24H00 in 2012. Source
